Weekend in Toronto

Here we are at week 34!! Can't believe it! I am really doing a lot of pushing forward on Mum's tummy and kicking her in the ribs/side these days. It's hard to get comfy since I'm growing so fast.

The week went by very, very quickly. First it was Mum's 29th birthday, which she celebrated by getting a mani-pedi. Being pregnant gives her something to talk about with the esthetician! While Mum was pampered, Dad took the dogs to Seaforth so they could stay with Nanny and Grampa for the weekend. Dad and Grampa took the opportunity to shoot 9 holes of golf. No hole-in-ones this time!

Then we were off to Toronto! We made pretty good time, and found the hotel right away. It was nice to stay at the Hilton in Toronto. First thing Mum wanted to do was go for a swim. It felt nice for her to be weightless! Then off to the pub to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Mum's friend Amanda, her boyfriend Adam, Dad's cousin Trevor and his friend Justin. The food was good, company was even better. It was a loud, but fun atmosphere to watch the game. I think the more the beverages flowed, the louder it got.

Saturday we went shopping at the Eaton Centre for Mum's birthday present from Dad. Found a nice pair of pjs for Mum to wear after I arrive so she'll be comfy during nighttime feedings. Thanks Dad! From there we walked all the way down to the Rogers Centre to see the Blue Jays. Mum didn't remember the walk being so far. By the time we got there, her fingers were sausages, and her ankles were no longer visible. Thank goodness she had already taken off her wedding rings for just such swelling emergencies! Even though the Jays lost, we had a good time and good seats. There was a couple sitting next to us with a baby, probably about 5 or 6 months old. Mum and Dad talked about how fun it will be to come to a game next year with me on the outside! Back to the hotel after the game to drive to Pickering to see Mum's friend Mel and her new house! Great place. Mel and her boyfriend, Greg, have put in a lot of time and effort into making it a home. They say it still has a lot of work, but I think it looks good already! We had a nice dinner, even though I make Mum's stomach fairly small, so she couldn't eat a lot. After dinner we played some games on the Wii. Fun at the time, but boy! Did Mum ever feel it the next couple days!

Sunday was another baby shower! This one with Mum's friends from U of T. It had been nearly 3 years since Mum saw Tali! Things had changed from when we last got together with that group. There are now two little boys joining the club! Both Tali and Lindsay have had their little boys. Funny how the last time we saw them, Mum and Dad had just found out that I was growing, but couldn't tell anyone. After the shower, we had to rush back to Seaforth to get the dogs and have birthday supper with Nanny and Grampa. They bought Mum a "green machine"! Even though they didn't want to, it was what Mum asked for. Great little steam spot cleaner. It'll come in handy for spit ups and other accidents.

Both Mum and Dad weren't feeling the best after such a busy weekend. Monday, Mum woke up and thought she was just sore and feeling crummy from all the exercise and bad sleep Sunday night. By the time she got home Monday from work, she had a full blown fever and flu symptoms. Called the midwife Tuesday, since the fever had gone on so long. They told Mum it was ok to take some more tylenol (because the effects of the fever would be worse on me than the tylenol) and if the fever hadn't come down by Wednesday morning, to go to the doctor. Luckily the fever came down, but Mum still doesn't feel well. Hard to get the work done that she has to do! Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for her!

PS: we didn't get a week 32 picture...guess we're a bit late on that one. Going to have to take it at 34 weeks. Still in the 8th month...just a bit bigger!
