Week 31

I'm not doing very well keeping up with this blog, am I?? It's hard to remember what has happened over the last week, but I'll do my best!

On the weekend (May 23), Dad was working another DJ gig. This time it was in town, and Mum was invited, so I got to go too! Dad plays the music really loud, which made me jump at first, but I got used to it. Mum tried to dance a little bit, but was too worried about hurting herself, so just some bouncing and swaying.

The next day, Dad had two ball games! At least the weather was nice, so Mum and I could stay warm while watching. So far, his team is doing pretty good. 5 wins, 1 loss. I wonder if I can have a little jersey made for me so I can wear it when I go watch.

Monday, May 25th we had our first prenatal class at the hospital where I will be born. Mum doesn't like hospitals, and seeing the room didn't help too much. The labour/delivery rooms are actually kind of nice. Very big, and lots of room to move around. Didn't like the look of the "whirlpool tub" though. Looked smaller than the one we squish into at home! How is Mum supposed to relax in that?!? And it had some reddish stains on it...hope that's rust and not from another baby coming into the world! For the rest of the class we watched some videos - one on the pain management options, and one on delivery. Mum thought the people in the videos were actors because they were acting so hokey...that was, until a real baby came out of the lady's real vajajay! Hard to pretend something like that with a low-budget movie!

Tuesday nights are always Mum's WeeHands Baby Sign class. This past week was learning about help/support signs. I know Mum can't wait for me to come and be her prize student! I'm feeling the pressure already. She's already trying to teach me turn taking skills while I'm nestled inside her. She'll find part of me, rub for a little bit, wait for me to move/kick and then start rubbing again.

Thursday, Mum and I went on a road trip to Windsor for Mum's job. She had to go and see some clients for the last time before going on maternity leave. The drive wasn't as uncomfortable as some have been in the past. The hardest part was not buying icecream/chocolate snack foods like she usually does at the rest stops! I moved around a lot after she ate her veggies, crackers and fruits to remind her how good those snack foods are for me. While in Windsor, Mum visited the "Sweet Pea" consignment shop for maternity and baby clothes. Just love it there! Some great prices! Mum spent more than she wanted to, but I've gotten so big that some of the old maternity clothes aren't fitting. Had to get some summer stuff too, since the weather man says it's going to be a hot one! She also got two outfits for me. One three-piece beige/brown number with paw prints on it, and one two-piece "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" themed outfit. So cute!! It's got a little t-shirt with pictures from the book and the words (e.g. Two Pears on Tuesday) and then a pair of bright yellow overalls with the caterpillar on them! I'll try to get a pic to add to show it off. Mum was so excited about that little outfit.

We're looking forward to this weekend because there isn't too much to do! Dad has a DJ gig on Saturday night, and then he's away most of the day on Sunday to his Fire Fighters Association of Ontario meeting. Maybe Mum will get some of my laundry done, or do some house work.
